Road trip to Todos Santos, La Paz & Los Barriles end of Dec 2025, early January 2026
We stayed in Pescadero, in an off-the-grid Boho-chic style property in a “tree house" suite at Baja Nomads Hotel
Dinners in Todos Santos at delicious Jazamango
Some pretty hiking:
On the way to La Paz, El Triunfo is a historic, charming former mining town in Baja California Sur, located about 45-60 minutes from La Paz or Todos Santos. Known for its 19th-century silver and gold mining heritage, it features landmarks like "La Ramona" smokestack (attributed to Gustave Eiffel)
La Paz is the capital and largest city of Baja California Sur. It is widely renowned as the "Aquarium of the World," a title famously given by Jacques Cousteau due to its incredible marine biodiversity. The Jacques Cousteau Island acts as a global epicenter for marine exploration, diving, and conservation in the Sea of Cortez.
Balandra!!! Supposedly the most beautiful beach in Mexico… Except that you have to stay in line with your car for a long time and if you are lucky enough to get in, you can stay only during the shift of the 450 people you got in with… We got in and stayed 10 minutes, it was so crowded! We will come back by boat, these islands around La Paz are beautiful to sail thru. Balandra on the left and Tecolote on the right: very windy, restaurants all along, not really our vibe… (In general the weather was not great during this trip).
We loved the little old Esterito neighborhood with a very small but very interesting whale museum and a good restaurant Tiger Club in the Casa Nopal boutique. Good typical brunch at La Catolica. Diner at Diosito was enjoyable. Doce Cuarenta Bakery & the french “Café 3 amigos” all nice!
Last stop Los Barriles known as a premier destination for wind sports from December through March. It was extremely windy! Early breakfasts at Coffee Love, lunch at The Four Seasons in La Ribera (beach or hotel not really special) & dinner at La Casita. We also went on a beautiful hike.
